Chapter Initiatives

 Constitution Week
         ·     Constitution Week is September 17 to 23 each year.
The September program is about the Constitution.

 Education

·        The DAR Good Citizenship Award is given annually to area students.

·         The chapter awards Faith Trumbull scholarships each June.

·        Members participate in the “Labels for Education” and “General Mills Box Tops for Education” which support six NSDAR schools.

 Flags

·        Flags are placed on Revolutionary War veterans' graves in  Norwich at Memorial Day. This initiative includes twenty French soldiers who died in Norwich during that period.

·        A flag retirement ceremony is conducted each August at our picnic.

 Genealogy Assistance

·        Several chapter members are on the national list for genealogy look-ups in Connecticut.

 Historic Preservation

·        The Faith Trumbull Chapter has been, and continues to be involved, in historic preservation by maintaining two historic homes. These historic properties house artifacts collected by early chapter Daughters.

 Veterans

·     Members contribute suggested items which are distributed through visits to veterans' facilities.

The fountain pictured here
is sitting on a pink granite base
and is inscribed around the bowl as follows:

"This fountain was placed by the Faith Trumbull Chapter D.A.R. 1909 to commemorate their spirit of public generosity."
